I would get it checked soon. That looks like the wires that lead to the Fuel Pump Driver Module (FPDM). If that goes, you will not be able to drive.

Yeah, park the car. Don't drive it.

I have driven the car a bit and it seems to be performing fine although the engine light is still on. I am guessing the light has something to do with the burned up wiring harness in the trunk. I believe I will get it inspected by a Ford dealer or a reputable mechanic on Monday morning beforehand and decide what to do. I wonder if Precision will resist me having the work done elsewhere?
Of course they will resist it. That would cost a lot more to them than have their own mechanics to "fix it."

Don't cave, though. You have a strong case because their mechanical incompetence is the reason why you're in this predicament.

What a horror story. Some shops/mechanics/welders sometimes are just not qualified. Was it their first mustang... which I seriously doubt. All they have to do is pull up some information and get some install sheets. What I call what they did over here is "mickey mousing it" which apparently that shop tried to do.. but terribly wrong. Anyways good luck with everything and I hope all goes well.

Wow, what kind of idiot pulls out the welding gear for a simple axle-back install? Next time, do it in your garage. Axle-backs are a cake-walk. In the mean time, stick it to these morons. Good luck.

Make those bastards pay for the repair.
Tell them if they don't you will report them to the Better Business Bureau and send it to a person you know at the local news station

Tell the service manager that and I'm sure he will cooperate.
It not I'd tell them to be looking for a letter from your attorney shortly.
That is INEXCUSABLE.

What a bunch of douche bags.
They should have been on their knees saying they were sorry and telling you they would fix it WITHOUT you even asking.
That is a crappy azz shop. You need to sock it to em big time.

They screwed up a simple job.
Make them fix it right, or pay for it... and NEVER go there AGAIN. EVER AGAIN.
Friggin' amateur CROOKS!

Wow.
The harness they got is for the Emmissions stuff thats under the rear trunk area.
It looks like someone tried to put it out with a dry chemical fire extinguisher.
Nothing needed to be welded, it all just bolts to OEM mounting hole locations.
How about a pic of the underside where they obviously welded single wall
trunk floor steel?
Axle backs go on in the driveway with simple install tools. All of it is suppost
to bolt together like the factory exhaust...
