Found a nice 2005 v6 convertible, please advise.
Hello all fellow Mustang members. I would like to become a new active member and get a 05 Mustang convertible for 8.3k firm.
I found a 05 that i like, with a GT kit (i believe it's called the pony package). The car is a V6 and has around 110.000 miles, single owner, clean carfax.
What I will need to do is replace the top as the rear window is no longer glued properly on the top and a little tic inside, but other than that, sounds like a v8 and has a pretty clean original straight exterior.
What I would like to know, being a V6, is this car reliable? are there any known issues to look for at this mileage ? I want to buy the car tomorrow so any input is greatly appreciated.
Thank you all!

The 4.0 is a very strong engine - I put 203,000 miles on mine before selling it in June 2012 and it is still going strong, after running it with a 75 shot of nitrous for 2 seasons and then pulling the nitrous and putting the Xcharger on it at 90,000 miles.
Check the thermostat housing carefully. With that many miles if it hasn't failed yet it may be due.

Being an 05, I would take aloof at the cowl grommets and drain plugs to make sure there isn't any signs of clogging or a water leak.
And ignore those that don't think a v6 is a real mustang.

I think the top replacement will not be a DIY project. While I don't know your personal experience most often a professional is needed.
I'm by no means saying don't get it, but find a shop that can do it and get an estimate for the cost of the replacement before hand. I suspect this cost to be in excess of $600 in labor plus parts. Just parts are like $500-$700 I believe.
Just figure that into the price and decide if the price is still right and if not then use it to negotiate a lower price.
And I'd take a v6 vert over a v8 coupe any day of the week and twice on Saturdays!

Top down is the way to go. So nice cruising in the sun with the top down. Replacement roof may be pricey get some estimates. Go for a v8 convertible if you can. I had a 2006 gt convertible a few yrs ago. They hold there value pretty good. Drove it for a year then sold it for 2 grand more than I paid for it. I just cleaned it up nice. When I bought it was not very clean. Loved that car hated to see it go but got the right money for it. Went the next summer with no stang. Just got another a few months ago and cant wait to get the top down again.

Check the front edge of the hood. These cars, especially the '05s & '06s are known to have paint bubbles along the front of the hood. I should know, I have had my '06 worked on 3 times and it's coming back again.
