Default Snapped bolt

My buddy was trying to remove my thermostat housing and in the process he managed to snap the left bolt (closest to the alternator). We tried to drill it out with an extracter bit, tha didn't work, we tried the heat it up with a torch, his idea, didn't work, and i finally removed the alternator today hoping I could use a vice grip and there is hardly anything on the bottom end to grip onto. What should I try next??? I'm so pissed that a 15min job is taking days!!!! [:@]

you tried drilling right down the center of the bolt and keep using bigger bit sizes untill the bolt breaks in half?

My only worry about doing it this way is stripping the hole completely and having the retap it, cause i can't necessarily see directly into the hole and if that happens I will only get more upset. But if I don't have any other choice, I may have to go in this direction.

If you destroy the hole, you can always Heli-coil it.. Since the T-Stat housing isn't a real "High pressure/High Load," area, Heli-coils should work just fine...

Easy-outs aren't that expensive.. Works similar to the drilling, but with less risk, and less fuss...
