Noise Coming from Transmission After Tri-Ax Install
3 weeks ago I installed a Steeda Tri-Ax shifter on my 99 GT. Since then, I hear a faint "metal-type-clicking-sound" comming from the transmission area, that gets louder as the car accelerates. Is this normal since the Tri-Ax doesn't have a rubber boot like the stock shifter does? Or is there some other issue with my transmission that happened to coincide with the installation of the Tri-Ax? Thanks for the help!

I'd put the car in neutral, remove the shifter again and place it back on. It could be that your shifter is somehow not positioned correctly and your car is not getting into gear fully. Did you install the shift stops?
Can't you just trim the stock rubber boot to fit the Tri-ax? My rubber boot fit perfectly on my MGW without any modifications.

Did you reuse the stock boot (cut the hole out bigger then stretch it to fit under the adjuster bolts). My triaxe is a little louder than the stock one though.

I just stretched the boot of my triax, and it is slightly noisier, especially if I rest my hand on the shifter while driving. Also, as stated above, RE-CHECK your stop bolts, make sure it is going into gear fully, and holding, or you will wreck your synchros. Other than that, everything should work fine. I've had the same shifter on for a year, the only click I get is when I shift hard and it taps the stop-bolt..........like it should.

RE: Noise Coming from Transmission After Tri-Ax Install
I have a steeda tri ax and it makes a weird noise once its into 5th gear. But it doesnt affect anything. When reusing the same rubber boot be carefull. I had the crappiest mustang shop in the world....that i wont mention......install mine and they ripped the boot to shreds and just left it. The only reason i looked under the leather is cause i heard alot of noise that i didnt hear before, IF your not using the rubber boot(silencer) then you are going to hear all kinds of noises.
