if your having any trouble with keeping your engine cool, go down to a 180, i think a 160 would be too cool and cause some hp loss

The engine has to reach a certain operating temperature in order for the fuel to burn completely. IMO...160 degrees is way too low, and will not be hot enough for a complete burn.

My opinion just go with the 180.
All the 160 will do is it will take longer for your engine to warm up.
In the long run like if you were cruising around all night your temp at the end would be the same.
If there is a advantage to running a little cool for a short while, I dont know about it.
Maybe some drag racers in hear can chime in on that one.

ill go 180 then ... i dunno everytime i dyno any car i have owned after we tune well let it sit for a hour or so with some ice get it freezing cold and it will pull atleast a minimum of 10 more hp but that could just be from letting all the heat soaked parts cool down and not the ACTUAL engine itself being colder that is something i will have to ask around more about

160 will keep you in warm up mode. Waste of fuel. Stick with 180.

yeah, i thought the same thing but its different with the 4.6 SOHC mod engine. It LOVES the high temps like 180-190..the lowest termostat temp u can go is 180..anything lower will make the engine run colder and it wont reduce much your HP but it will surely affect your fuel mileage. if u notice, as soon as u turn your car. Dont worry, as long as your temp stays between 180-200..u r good to go..
