hooting/humming noise

hooting/humming noise
i started to hear a humming noise, A low hooting sound but continuous. i can only hear it when im going past 50 and in gear. when i push in the clutch it goes away and sometimes it sounds like its grinding very lightly
so its obviously somthing with the tranny.
maybe my 4th/5th gear isnt engaging correctly? anyone have an idea?
