well im in nh and they just plug me in the computer so i dont see y it would be illegal here

well in PA i know the tests arent dependent on the exhaust, they just plug into the OBDII port check for codes, and do the gas cap check. but they wont do either of those if it doesnt pass a visual.

but i know theres places around there that dont even bother doing the visual, just so it passes the rest.

i usually just tell them, "whats on my exhaust isnt affecting the codes, or the gas cap. and the second you do the emissions test, im gonna put it right back to the way it is now, so it wouldnt make any sense to just waste my time. regardless its going to be illegal when i get it back in my hands, so just save me the time and effort and just check it the way it is now."

in more words or less.
