Default Another Stupid 4V swap Question

Is a 4v engine a drop in part other than the exhaust. Can I just get a crate motor from a distrubutor and buy some 4v headers and call it done or is it alot more in depth that that.

i believe you need the harness from the 4v cars. might be a way to splice wires though

Ya the wires will not work, also you would need you computer retuned. What some people have done is that they go to a junk yard and find a cobra, then take thecomputer and wires and replace the exsisting harness.

WRONG! The 4v will drop right in with the GT harness and ECU. In order to get the full benefits of the 4v, you'll need to have a tuner load the 4v fuel maps. But it WILL bolt right in and start. A few minor things are different like the Alternator plug and you'll need to extend a couple of wires to get them to fit but it's 100% something a novice can do.

The reason someone would use the Cobra ECU is so they wouldn't have to get it tuned.

That is what I thought, I knew I needed the fuel map. I had also heard that something about the coil packs was different.
