Default Is it my thermostat?

Hey. I just bought a 97 mustang cobra and shes a beast. Some time last week my car overheated, spilling coolant everywhere. I let it sit for 10-15 min, filled it back up and drove it back to base. When I parked and popped the hood, my radiator was completely empty, but there was no signs of a leak. Also, my fan in the radiator doesn't spin when the car is on. I have no idea what it could be. Help me out please. Thank you.

That could be a couple things.. You may have a leak that is only apparent when the system is completely pressurized (like when it's on).. Check your lower radiator hose for leaks/cracks, and look underneath the intake manifold to make sure there isn't any there..

While you're at it, check your passenger side floor/carpet for moisture..

If your fan isn't running at all, then you may have a relay blown, or a connection loose.. The fan doesn't usually run all of the time, only when the Coolant Temp sensor says it's time (usually after the T-Stat closes).. If your T-stat was bad, it could be a couple things, like overheating but the radiator is full of fluid, car never gets up to/takes forever to get to operating temp, etc..

If there's no coolant in the radiator then chances are the temp switch for the radiator is not reaching the real temp of your fluid due to air bubbles or no fluid at all, therefore, fix the fluid leak first then check the fan switch.
