I want as much rubber contacting the road at all times. I am into handling, not straight line performance. I want as much advantages as I can get.
Like this Kenny Brown race car, How hot is that. Kinesis wheels 18x10 all the way around.

Mustangs were built to go in a straight line, not for handling, so its going to take some work to get what you want.

Oh yes. Alot of work to make mustangs real competative. With a full Griggs Supsension kit, it will. Full frame kit, Tubular K member, double tubular A-arm front suspension, Coil overs, 3 link rear suspsension, torque arm, watt links. My stang will handle better than most. I would rather have that 1" wider rim than not. If Im going to buy rims. My idea is to get the best, not just get something that will be better, and I will wind up changing later.

OK first off, you should get subframe connectors. Or which is better a full frame kit, which make not flex and which allows the geometry of the supspension work properly. Depending on how much you want to spend you have alot of options. You could get new bushings, for everything, which will help prevent binding, which will help your supsion work the way it should.
You can keep the factory 4 link and improve apon it. OR you can get Steeda's five link suspension or you can go the three link rear supsension. Or you can install an independent rear suspension from a cobra. From what I have researched the three link and independent rear suspensions are the best. Your going to have to buy a used IRS from a cobra. there around $2000.
There are two companys that offer three link. www.maximummotorsports.com and www.griggsracing.com
I woudl choose griggs, there more expensive but they have better products to offer. There offer a full frame kit instead of subframes. They also offer a watts link, instead of just a panhard bar, They also offer a dual arm front suspension, which no other company offers. The whole kit is about $10,000. But its the best way to get your mustang to handle the best it possibly can.

Are you planning to lower the car? That might have an effect. I have Y2k Cobra R's and they are 9.5 inches. They do fine, but they will rub if the wheel is locked left or right while parking. Not bad, but more of an annoyance. But everyday driving, they are fine. You'd probably be better off with the 9s though. Wide tires in the front try to grab everything; sometimes the road tries to steer the car for you

Saleen 10's. Performance is fine with them..and I have them because...I wanted 10's. There's no difference in 9's, because I've had those on too. The 10's allow wider tires, better traction. I have my brand new perellis sittin outside and they are 295-40-18 in back and 245-35-18 in the front. No spacers.
Looks good, runs good. But you could always get 10s in the back and 9s in the front!

RE: rims
I am wondering what the fatest and most reasonable tire would be that you could run the same size up front and rear? Would that be the 18x10? I would like to be able to rotate tires front X back to get a tiny bit more wear out of them (tidewad) and these OEM 245x45's are NOT giving me a fraction of the traction that I need at this point. Can you say redline?
