Default Better MPG at higheer RPMs?

Ok, I know i'm new to the mustang world but after reading a post that had to go with redlining the engine, i felt like a grandma driver! I usally drive at about 2K and shift around 3k. Thinking this is easier on my engine, but recently i started shifting up toward 4k and driving around town around 2500 to 3k and it seems like my MPG is better? Could this be due to the mods on my car? running it at 2k is like "flooding" the engine?
Its all to wierd for me, so I thought I would ask you guys! I still have not had the nuts to redline it!, everything tells me "Its not good to that to your car!"
I will learn!

I normally shift my 04 GT way low, 2000-2100 rpm. (Anything after here is OPINION, don't flame me for it) It doesn't make much sense to me why your MPG would be better at a higher RPM, it depends a lot on how much you need to put on the pedal. When cruising in 5th at 45-55, I barely need to touch the gas to keep it going, which makes sense to me as excellent gas mileage.

Running at 1500 RPM vs 3000 RPM... twice the speed, with the same fuel flow scaled to speed, twice the fuel required. Obviously under very little load there will be less fuel and air, so less fuel consumed, but it just seems to me that the RPM has a large enough effect on fuel consumed to make going at 1500 instead of 3000 worth it.

Redlining your car isn't good for it, driving it isn't good for it, letting it sit isn't good for it. Really, nothing at all is "good for it" it all causes wear in one way or another. It's going to break sooner or later no matter how much you granny it... so you can have a little fun. I'm even a little wary of redlining it, but I'll take it to 5200-5300 RPM when racing (redline is 5800, so I'm not even getting close to my rev limiter).

I was thinking it had something to do with the "Superchip" tunning. Since I bought the car with it in there and was told the timing was advanced and the fuel/air ratio was adjusted? I am working on getting the tuner from the prvious owner, but have to go through the dealer. So its taking some time.
