Not meaning to get off topic hear....

But how vital is an intercooler on a daily driver? Is it basicly a requirement?
Well not really a requirement. Without the intercooler on a stock bottom end u can run around 6PSI with timing reatarded. so you are at great disadvantage with power gains. The intercooler allows your to run at 8PSI without timing retarded but advanced and makes a cooler temp of boost air charge. We all now cooler is better. So for the extra $1000-1200 it worth not having the worry of detonation.
Wow you're running timing advanced over stock b/c you have an air to air intercooler that doesn't provide any real cooling benefit unless you'rereally moving? That makes no sense to me. Most tuners have told me you still retard timing 1 degree per pound of boost.

Reason being, just one bad tank of gas, on a hot day, BOOM detonation city population: you.

s-trim is just the louder version of the sq (hence the q = quiet). just get the whole kit and 6 hours later, no questions asked you have a car that'll blow the doors off a ls engine. still need the dyno though; but that's half the fun. the feeling you'll get standing there listening to your car at wot is the ****!
yea, a stock ls lol

but you still have a better interior than the LS plus you won't attract trailer park queens with it either.

But, standing watching your car at WOT? weak. I tell them I'm the one in the car making the pull when they're tuning.

My timing ain't advanced, i didn't say it was i have just read before that you can advance it with the use of a intercooler.
and i have no worry about cooling when i am not moving i don't think i am in a boost condition at idle unless u want tosit there in the driveway and rev your car over 3K

Okay. Say you sit a stoplight withyour advanced timing. A WS6 or SS pulls up next to you and you throttle first gear. First is good maybe to 30 mph depending on your gearing, which is not fast enough to make the air to air i/c efficient so there you have it. High revs, boosted, and in the right conditions you still detonate.

Thats all I'm saying.

Ok i agree with you, thatthere will always by a chance of detonation but its more unlikely with the use of the intercooler.

For sure, :thumbsup:but I just don't want him to go buy an i/c and think he can advance his timing and blow it up. I'm looking out for him too.
