have you read any of this thread? lol it is a 460 not a 4.6 (281).

BTW this sounds like a sick build. My father ran a 460 bored 20 over to make it a 466 in his 79 merc capri and that thing ran mid-high 10s depending on the weather. He had skinny *** slicks on that thing to, due to minimal wheel well clearance. His was basically an old junk motor with ported heads, a nice edlebrock 460 intake, and a holley dom. carb. That is a badass sounding motor. His suspension was def. nothing stellar and it was all motor. You should be running 11s NA and maybe into the low 10s/high 9s with a 200 shot. Not that you aren't knowledgeable but if you have any questions about the motor itself or what all he ran, let me know he'd be happy to even talk with you on the phone about it (he's a very personable guy lol). Good luck, keep me/us all updated.

The big block will smoke the 4.6... easy. The torque and powerband will be ungodly. With a good top end and compression he could be seeing 800+hp with his eyes closed. I have been looking into do this same swap, but Im doing FI, so its a little more complicated. However the specs I have found show that the 460 weighs 800lbs. IMO you should go ahead and stroke it and make it badass while its apart. I was doing a 5.4, but now with the 6.2 coming out I have green eyes. However, as a side note. It appears a best of both worlds is a 351w, you can get a MAF setup, stroke it to 427 and fits easily in the sn-95. The 4.6 and 5.4 retardedly big, the 460 will fit just fine, but with all of this work, I think you should really consider taking full advantage of the old school tricks for big power.

umm...idk how much parts will be... i keep finding stuff i want to buy...im at like 3k right now after the tranny i pick up this weekend.... it wont break 5k though

and i dont want to stroke it right now because that would put the car down and out for a lot longer since i just cant afford it.... i have another engine im going to start building up once the swap is done, it will get stroked with some good heads and a 700-800 lift cam...should be a monster...but for now, i just want to get the motor in the car so i can have some fun with it

There's been many 2v's with 800+. But good luck with your project.

guess you didnt read the rest of my post where i said i would need to build a shortblock to get those numbers...show me one stock bottom end 2v at 800hp... or hell, even 500hp

i dont want to drop a few grand in a rotating assembly when i can use a 460 with stock rotating assembly and get all the power i want until its time to stroke it...

i could spend the money getting forged stuff for a 2v bottom end, or i could spend the money getting forged stuff for a 460 bottom end, and having it knock it out to a 557 that easily makes 600hp na.... dollar for dollar you will never convince me that a 2v is a better platform to build off of than a 460

Yeah who wouldn't want a 2 ton motor.

yep...300lbs is going to make a world of difference! especially since ill be shaving atleast 50lbs worth of FI, PS, PB, and chassis ****

if you dont like it then gtfo, i made the thread to show progress on the motor, not to hear what you think i should have done instead

guess i wanted to do something a little different then buying a shortblock and adding a supercharger like most people do...especially considering the outrageous cost to do that, and still be at the same point i would be with the 460 for half the cost

I like the way you think. I personally would rather play with an engine like you have then build up my 4.6 engine. But, I can't do either...so I'll live my dream through this thread
