great...found out my intake doesnt fit because the heads have a SCJ port job... theyre too big they wont seal, its just going to eat intake gaskets...off to jegs to order a new one for a scj setup...ill post pics of the new intake in a few days...glad i have a cowl hood since this one wont be so low profile lol

 

Sweet build, man. I have always dreamed of doing something crazy like that (my dream was even more over the top - make it an EFI motor and slap two big 'ole turbos on it). However, I have too much to repay in student loans to even think about following through right now. Oh well. Definitely let us know how it turns out.

 

fuel injection woulda been nice...i coulda got a newer block and went with that...but this seemed easier/cheaper and the parts are more readily available... efi 460 would be a cool build though

i would love to eventually turbo this motor, but thats not in the plans right now

spray is so much cheaper!

 

new tranny (filthy!!) and intake are here now!...just waiting on a cam since the other one was broke...should come in monday or tues...going to hopefully start the tear down this week on the car

 

Interesting, looks like it will be a fast ride. Just throw a few cement blocks in the trunk and itll hook up just fine lol.

I have one question though, ive read this whole thread and was wondering about your pistons. I wouldnt think the old cast pistons would stand up to that much spray, or are they actually forged?

Anyway good luck with it i look forward to seeing pics of it stuffed in there, i did have a race ready 5.0 that i was gonna stick in mine but decided to sell it and stay with a mod motor myself. But as they say, to each his own.

just cast pistons...i should be good...im sure ill be pushing it a little bit on the spray, but nothing too extreme, as long as im not spraying it from light to light
