Default 2000 convertible frame question

The top on my 2000 convertible does not open evenly, the drivers side lifts about 9 inches before the passenger side starts. Not a problem except I installed a speedster cover and because of the inbalance, the roof frame gets caught on the cover support. I had everything out of the back and it is obvious that the car had been in an accident as there were repairs to the drivers side right where the roof bracket is. Now the bracket looks like it may be bent, but I am not sure if that is the design. Can anyone tell me if the frame bracket on the left side of the car is an opposite clone to the right side. The right side is straight but the left side has a little bend in it. I think this might be causing the cylinder to bind. Unfortunately I didnt think of taking photos before putting the car back together. I have a line on a new left side frame but dont want to have it shipped unless I know I need to replace the existing one.

If your hydraulic motor is low on fluid, one side will lag over the other as well.
