And a year and a half later the project continues...have a box sitting in the garage with a new Ford Performance intake manifold to replace the Dorman garbage somebody put on the car (yes with a Vortech charger)...its a beautiful thing:
Also have a new set of genuine Motorcraft DG-508 COPs and SP413 spark plugs...new injector seals and of course manifold gaskets...I didn't skimp on those.
It looks like I have some work to do to flush out the intake cooler system. I've never messed with this part of the car since its been dormant most the time I've been involved with the car, but it looks like the previous caretaker of the car didn't make sure the coolant blend was 25/75 coolant/water...rust and the yuck you see floating on top there. Geez.
Floor is swept...just need to find *time* to work on it now.
Always wondered what a FI car with "clogged arteries" would look like...now I know! Yep, the eternal struggle to get the time and/or motivation sometimes to work on your car. This isn't a daily driver I take it?
LOL no fortunately its not...but I do miss driving it and hearing it run pretty badly. Its been sitting quietly in the garage for over a year and a half. I've got the motivation for sure, but busy family life (baby girl not yet 2 months old and kids from previous marriage), and property to take care of...job...etc.
Regarding the yuck in the power cooler tank, the only consolation to seeing that for me is knowing it is isolated from the engine cooling system. I corresponded with the folks at Vortech about it and got some guidance for how to best clean it up.
