Exclamation Reverse auto transmission problem, opinion needed

Hi guys, tried the search couldn't find the same problem. I have a 2002 auto transmission with a 3500stall, my car would not go into reverse, would just bang when put into reverse gear. So Instead of just getting that fixed got the whole transmission rebuilt. Now when I went to pick it up, when you put it into reverse it want to keep going/accelerating. this only happens in reverse gear. What do you think the issue could be? transmission problem right? the throttle cable seems to be fine.

Default Reverse auto transmission problem, opinion needed

Justen145, the first item I would check is the "Idle Air Control Valve." I am not positive this is the culprit, but the change to the 3500 converter could have influenced said valve.

So the trans was rebuilt, and when you put the car in reverse, after backing up a little bit (to get out of a spot or driveway for example) and letting off the gas, the car still wants to move back without a drop in the rpms?

Do the rpm's change at all when the car goes from park to reverse? When in reverse, do the rpm's climb even when the gas pedal is not pressed?

That's an interesting issue, though I wonder what the trans shop would have to say.

Thanks, it ended up being a frayed wire on the idle air control sensor. Thanks guys
