Evolution debate ongoing.
I've known Fred for a little little over a year now, and I must say he is a stand up guy.... If you have a problem with something you're buying or something you already bought, he is always willing to help you get straightened out and back on the road... Two thumbs up for Fred at Evoloution Performance and Parts... Gavin
He gives great prices on all parts too...

I'm back into the undecided pool!! [sm=sigh.gif]
I just got back from a test run on my car after putting the 93 octane tune that Brent (Brenspeed) emailed me today. Now if you don't know the story, my 93 octane tune from Brenspeed got overwritten when I went to Evo two weeks ago. I'm meeting up with Drbobvs on Thursday and we wanted to compare our tunes, he's go both tunes from Brenspeed and Evo. We're also going to the track on the 10th (Next Wednesday) and we wanted to test out the two tunes there too. Problem is, I didn't have my 93 octane tune anymore. I emailed Brent and told him what had happened with my tune and what I was planning on doing and asked him if he could send me the 93 tune again. I really wans't expecting him to email me the tune, I know most tuners don't like emailing their tunes, plus I know Brent is very busy right now. Let just say that I was very surprised when I received the email from Brent today with my 93 tune as an attachment!!!!
When I came home the first thing I did was bring my tuner, hooked it up to my laptop and downloaded Live Load 3 from the SCT website and updated my tuner with the 93 tune from Brenspeed. I looked at the settings, liked the fact that the idle neutral and drive speeds were at stock levels, just had to change the axle ratio for my 4.10 gears and I was ready to take the car for a test drive. Now I gotta say, the car feels great!! I know the gears have a lot to do with it but it accelates just like I like it! I can't compare the two tunes right now 'cause it wouldn't be fair to any of them, since I can't really tell what the differences are just yet. I should have a better idea on Thursday and next Wednesday when we go to the track and I try both tunes. They both seem like great tunes to me right now, and I'm very thankful to Brent for taking his time to send me that 93 tune, really appreciate it!

While this debate may be considered "undecided" or decided, for sure that the evo OR the brent tune is better or not but one thing is clear, I do have to agree that customer service is unmistakable at Brenspeed.
I only met Fred (evo) once, went to his shop and layed down $1200+ on goodies and that was it. He likes to consider his customers friends but even though that may sound great on the exterior, what it all comes down to is service/speed and reliability. Well, I havn't had a problem with reliability as of yet (nothing has broken yet unless my engine from the tune dies tomorrow) but I can certainly say I am not THAT happy wiht the service.
Case in point - 1 week before this thread started, I PMed and emailed him about the updated tune he promised me while. This tune was supposed to go on my tuner when I was supposed to visit him about a month or so ago but I didn't go because of rain and because my shifter hadn't arrived yet but nonetheless, he said he would email it to me. Well, it has been a few PMs, a few emails and a few instant messages and I still havn't gotten it yet. Funny thing is, he IMz me once in a while to show me cool stuff but totally forgets that I still need that tune and when I ask him about it, he says he's busy. Oh well.
Julio (dkano) - you just emailed Brenspeed once and he sent it to you considering all the naysaying about the brenspeed tune on this post? wow! I think that's amazing!!
Good job for Cal (menace) for making him a busy (and perhaps rich) man but don't forget about your current customers, we are the ones that brought all this attention to begin with.
For thoes reading this, please don't reply that your service is outstanding and that hes the best - I just decided to bring this up because Julio only emailed Brenspeed "ONCE" and he got his replacement tune while I am waiting weeks and/or being ignored.
Hey Bro,
That's kinda messed up, I didn't know you had been waiting for a tune this whole time. I'm not too happy with my last visit to their shop either, I had the Steeda UDPs and LCAs in the trunk ('cause I hadn't been able to get them installed yet). I asked them if they could install them and was quoted about $300 to install both, saying that the pulleys took about three hours. My shop around here (Mustang Magic) quoted me about one hour to change the pulleys, so I knew it didn't take that long. But considering I was having such a hard time being able to go to a shop around here to get them installed I was like F*&$ it, and told them to install both the UDPs and LCAs. Well, the LCAs weren't done right, the car vibrates when you go over 90MPH (which I do once in a while). I left Fred a message the day after we came back letting him know about what was happening with the car, but never heard back from him! Now I know I made a mistake getting those parts installed so far away from my house, it's not like I can just drive there and have them looked at! I emailed Steeda and asked them to send me the installation instructions, got good service from Steeda too, they sent me an email with the instructions attached and I'l be trying to fix the LCAs tomorrow. I was happy with the tune when I saw the dyno sheet, didn't know why we didn't get one of those sheets with the graphs on them, I kinda like graphs, was not too happy with the "other" stuff.

Tuner Shootout
I have been in communication with the Editior of Muscle Mustang and Fast Fords about doing a "Tuner Shootout" article. Jim said he would be interested in doing the article, and will be contacting other known 05/06 Mustang tuners, like the one mentioned in this thread, so we can finally put an end to this debate!
Actually I had those gears for more than two weeks before I went to the shop and the car didn't vibrate like that, and believe me I had the car over 90MPH with those gears before, probably once or twice on my way there that day too. The problem I had with those gears was the noise, which is a Motive gears thing, from what I've heard from other owners that have installed Motive gears, some have been lucky and they have no noise but a lot do. The gear issue has been solved already though, I had them install Ford Racing 4.10 gears and the noise is gone, they also gave me a warranty on the gears.
I'm sure no one has noticed this when I posted a clip last week, but another problem I have with my car since the LCAs were installed is that the cars makes a sound, as if two parts were rubbing against each other, when I turn the car going below 5 MPH. If you listen to the first 6 seconds of this clip you should he able to hear that sound:

You've got to be kidding me Fred. You're actually calling another installer "hackers". Just because the gears make noise, doesn't mean it's not the gears themselves. These guys do 2 sets per day and give a one year warranty on their work. I and many others have had no issues with them at all. It's not a secret that the Motive gears have problems, I've personally seen it. I've seen the damaged gears come out of the factory box. The problem is usually only resolved by installing another brand. The gentleman that installed Dkano's gears told him before hand that they would probably make noise, again, it's not a secret. I've seen mustang magic set up an '05 suspension so well that he was lapping vetts with 650lbs of driver and passenger in the car, and that's WITHOUT a power adder.
I'm sure if you installed a part that did not perform the way the customer thought it would (like with my tune) you wouldn't think it fair if they called you a "hacker". Dkano and I will do some runs this week and post back so i'm still reserving judgemant. But whether your your tune proves better or worse than any other, in our admittedly imprecise testing, we will not denigrate you or Brent.
You've gotten alot of praise here on this forum, and the customer service you've shown me was excellent. We appreciate all the input of our sponsers, they offer us alot of insight to the fine details of tuning these cars. Speaking badly about a well known and respected mustang shop degrades your credibility.
