I know what you are saying Chevy, though I think given the right amount of time it would be a little easier to compare the tunes based on ET, if I was given enough time to make the needed passes. Though frankly I don't think I'll be running back to back passes next time I go to the track, and I'll be trying to get into the 12s so bothering with switching tunes each time will probably not be on my list.

I think it was earlier noted in the thread that peak power and torque numbers don't necessarily mean better performance. Well, I'm not exactly sure why it wouldn't mean better performance? The engine is making more power, simple as that. Of course the newer power will be harder to obtain a good launch, but that's just something you have to work on.

I'm not sure how much, given I do identical runs as my previous best, that the 25 or so HP & TQ will take off my ET, but I think if I get a good launch, and shift properly that the ET should bring me into the 12s, or pretty close. Only time will tell, and I'm sure I'll find my way to the track in the near future.

The whole point of the debate is that some people are open minded, and others are not. The ones that aren't, believe their tuner is the best. That is your opinion and everyone is entitled to one. However, as far as Max Power & Torque based on the same modifications, excluding the different tunes, Evolution showed the better numbers.

How dependable are each of the tunes? Well, I have used Brenspeed and have had zero problems, and I've used Evolution's tune and have zero problems. Only time will tell that, and I'm only nearing about 9500 miles on the car, so hopefully I won't have any serious problems for many many miles to come.

Furthermore, when people start talking about dependability with performance modifications... The two don't fit in the same sentence together. If you wanted something dependable, you wouldn't be adding things to hinder it's lifespan, nor would you be pushing the car to it's limits on the road. Of course this doesn't mean just because you are doing all kinds of things to your car, and you're racing every weekend, that it means your car is going to break down sooner. The vehicles aren't built by hand and thoroughly expected. They are build on a mass producing line, and maybe your car just recieved a bad part and you got unlucky. Or maybe since you're making 500RWHP, and your axles couldn't handle that much, that it broke upon launching down the 1/4 mile. If you want your car to last, just make sure you take care of it.

These forums are to bring together owner's, and let them share information...and that is all I am doing here. I'm sharing the information I recieved based on having experiences from two competing companies. Neither company is bad. Both strive for excellence, and making sure their customer's are happy. A happy customer means better business for everyone. Do I think Brent is a little upset over this post? Probably. Though like I said before, there was no harm meant. I'm sure Brent is still having plenty of business, and probably from people who have read this and just went with their gut instinct... Which is fine! I'm not telling anyone they have to listen to me, I'm not some performance mechanic that knows 100% what he's talking about, i'm just the average Joe like most of you.

Anyway, thanks for the PM's, and I'm glad to help any who need it. As always, if anyone feels the need to share some information about the topic...chime in at any time.

I cant for the life of me figure out WHY this thread exists in the first place. What is the motivation behind casting Brenspeed in a poor light? Leave it alone. If you love the EVO tune just say so but leave Brenspeed out of it...period, please. Whether you can see this or not it comes across as someone who is trying to drum up business for one vendor and scare it away from another. Just giving you my perception. When I first read this I had to scratch my head a little bit. I installed the Brenspeed tune on my stang and was blown away at the performance. There is one thing I hate in business and that is when a vendor casts their competion in a poor light. Even worse is when they allow their customers to do it for them. Flame suit on...

Because that new peak may have come at the expense of power in every other point in the band. I'm not saying that that is or is not the case here; simply that your peaks are just that, peaks.

If I said my peak horsepower was say 350 you'd say that was awsome...then I tell you it's for a 100rpm window, and everywhere else on the graph it's under 220 (totaly bs #'s, just proving the point). In that light my 350 peak hp is completely worthless, what I'm really working with when the car is being driven are those sub-220 numbers.

And ya, +1 to macca's post above mine as well.

You may think it's pointless or the other person may not. Though I think many would agree they found this atleast helpful. The reason for this post was I kept seeing things like. "Which tuner should I go with?" and based on my results I posted this. Do I think Brenspeed lost 293892839238 customers because this post? No. Do I think Evolution gained 20983293829 customers because of this post? No. It's just one man's opinion. You can either read and make your own judgements, or you can cast it off as being pointless...

I don't think in this day and age we need to 'hide' the competition. It's no longer the day where we have Coca Cola vs the X - Brand. It's Coca Cola vs Pepsi, face it. The point of that was, we aren't here to promote anyone, we are just here to share information and that is what I am doing. If you read any of this thread you would see that I'm not trying to say that Brenspeed's tune is crappy, I'm just saying that I got more out of Evolution's tune, and in the end I am happy with Evolution.

Anyway, I have to cut this short because I have to go, but thanks for the posts.

+1 We can bench race all we want here and it won't do us any good.

This quoted text is an excellent example on how numbers can be misrepresented (not saying its the case here). What it all comes down to is what you can do at the track. Period. If you have 325rwhp and can only run a 13.5, then guess what....your dyno numbers don't mean squat.

In conclusion, lets see some track numbers before and after before we decide which tuners tune is better. This will provide the best before/after results from which people can THEN decide for themselves. [/lecture]

The reason this thread exists is because every week a new mustang owner wants to know all about custom tunes and who's the best one to get from for their hard earned money. You can chime in every time that gets asked. It's all opinions and that's whay people are seeking. THAT's WHY.

Let's be honest here, I am sure that Menace has a liking for EVO. He spent some time in his shop, and I am sure that EVO filled his head with information that Menace does not understand. If you do not understand the information, it's like pulling the wool over your eyes...

Just because he was cool to you does not mean that he is the better tuner. There are so many other variables involved...

I am glad to here that he got good numbers on the dyno (who knows if they are even real), but you need to be aware of what you are getting yourself into..., you could destroy your engine if you are not carefull.

The only way to really tell which is better is with a controlled experiment at a dragstrip, period....

I'm back into the undecided pool!! [sm=sigh.gif]

I just got back from a test run on my car after putting the 93 octane tune that Brent (Brenspeed) emailed me today. Now if you don't know the story, my 93 octane tune from Brenspeed got overwritten when I went to Evo two weeks ago. I'm meeting up with Drbobvs on Thursday and we wanted to compare our tunes, he's go both tunes from Brenspeed and Evo. We're also going to the track on the 10th (Next Wednesday) and we wanted to test out the two tunes there too. Problem is, I didn't have my 93 octane tune anymore. I emailed Brent and told him what had happened with my tune and what I was planning on doing and asked him if he could send me the 93 tune again. I really wans't expecting him to email me the tune, I know most tuners don't like emailing their tunes, plus I know Brent is very busy right now. Let just say that I was very surprised when I received the email from Brent today with my 93 tune as an attachment!!!!

When I came home the first thing I did was bring my tuner, hooked it up to my laptop and downloaded Live Load 3 from the SCT website and updated my tuner with the 93 tune from Brenspeed. I looked at the settings, liked the fact that the idle neutral and drive speeds were at stock levels, just had to change the axle ratio for my 4.10 gears and I was ready to take the car for a test drive. Now I gotta say, the car feels great!! I know the gears have a lot to do with it but it accelates just like I like it! I can't compare the two tunes right now 'cause it wouldn't be fair to any of them, since I can't really tell what the differences are just yet. I should have a better idea on Thursday and next Wednesday when we go to the track and I try both tunes. They both seem like great tunes to me right now, and I'm very thankful to Brent for taking his time to send me that 93 tune, really appreciate it!

Yeah, I e.mailed Brent today asking if there was any updates to his tune since I got it last June. I'm waiting his reply.

I'll see you thursday, I should be there about 5:30. I don't think I can make it on the 10th though, we'll see.

No, I was on the fence, and this thread is actually what made me go with Brenspeed. So far I've only run the 87 tune and JLT and can say that Brent without a doubt, knows what he is doing. If this 87 tune is any indication of his tuning abilities, I can't wait to set this thing on kill mode.

Edit: That would be an 89 octane tune, not 87.
