Default RE: Brenspeed vs Evolution debate on-going.

Well got home from work this evening and there on the front porch sat the shipment I had been waiting for all week.

My SCT from Fred at Evolution Performance had arrived.

To make a long story short this is the email I sent Fred today:

Hey Fred,

Got the SCT this evening.

Took the Predator out to the GT and reset it.

Plugged in the SCT, its actually pretty user friendly. Went to the Programming area and downloaded the 93 Extreme Tune.

Told the wife I had to run up to the gas station to fill up. Got out of my subdivision and onto the highway.

Punched it, the only thing that I can remember from that point on is, I remember saying to myself.........HOLY ****........WTF..........it was all I could do to keep the Pony from break'in the land speed record on a local highway. I was hold'in on to the steering wheel so tight my knuckles were white. I cannot believe how quick my GT is now, its pretty much like get shot out of the whole with a sling shot.

Now the Mustangs front-end comes way up in the air.........just like in the 60's. COOL!

Sure was fun.

Oh, by the way, I know you said you were going to give me (2) tunes, (1) was the 93 Extreme Tune, which is in the SCT and now in my car and the other tune was one I think you called the "Insane Tune" to only be used at the drag strip, which isn't in my SCT.

Well don't worry about not giving me the "Insane Tune" I don't want it. My heart can only take so much.

Thanks man.

John Cummings / Fenton, MO.

Thats the end of the email to Fred.

Many thanks to everyone on this thread for their honest and open opinions regarding tuners and tunes.

Well, I'd like to say that was a bit of an extreme reaction, but I'm glad you're satisfied. I actually told myself I wasn't going to respond anymore to this thread, so it would just die out... Partially due to all the negativity destroying what was meant to be something knowledgeabe and informational.

Granted, I never got a graph of the Dyno and all I have are the sheets showing the peak gains in HP & TQ. I don't know what AFR my car is running at, except the knowledge of Fred saying he tunes at 12.8 AFR.

I don't think Fred is blowing smoke up anyone's *** with his tunes. I think he actually knows what he's talking about, but even I need the facts. I'm heading back to the shop soon, mostly to get the resonator's installed, but I'm also going to get some bungs installed so we can hook it up to the wideband and check it's AFR to make sure she's running healthy. We're also going to get some dyno sheets, with graphs this time, and I'll be sure to keep everyone posted on that.

Anyways, this is just one man's opinion. Everyone is going to have one. If everything turns out right, I'll be pretty happy.

Where I get my GT dyno'd all the time is only 10 min. from the house. I'll give them a call tomorrow to see if I can get in for a pull or two.

Its a Dyno-Jet. With the Predator tune my best pull out of 12 pulls was 289.9 rwhp and 287.4 torque.

I can get the graph and the performance print out but I dont have a way to put it on here. I guess what I could do is to fax it to someone to scan and then they could post it.

I cant get the graph or performance print out on a disk because the ole' boys "A" drive is shot and the tuner PC is not networked into their other PC's..........grief.

Yeah, your right Menace, it was an extreme reaction. I was really caught off guard with what to expect from Fred and the SCT. I was totally surprised.

I wont post anymore after this. I guess its just as well to let this thread sail off into the achives.

Well I just had my car dynoed with Evolutions 93 tune and C&L, and steeda udp's and I pulled 289.78 hp 310tq, but I was hoping for 300 like Menace got out of his tune. I may try Brenspeeds tune as well and see what I can pull with his 93 tune.

Is it really nessary to pull the fuses to do the tune? I can see the fuel pump, but the fan I can turn off in the car. I sorta thought the instructions would be more than 1 page with pics and all, but it's probably just as simple as it says..

I just finished intalling my JLTII+XCAL from Evolution. The car feels more alive. I was at a stop and I decided to punched it and was blown away. When I reached over 6,000rpm's I heard the tires screech (Is that nornmal? haha). I felt like I was at a track for a minute. ANyways thanks Fred.

An Off-Road X-Pipe or H-Pipe (No Cats) is worth 10 RWHP and 8 RWTQ, which would bring you to three hundred!

How long were you there before they ran your car on the dyno? Was the car properly cooled down before running? Those are major factors to consider!

My car sat for a couple hours before it was dynoed.
