Evolution debate ongoing.

Fred's phone number and website are listed right on his profile and signature I believe. You don't need to pull the fuses, just make sure you have all your accessories turned off when you are tuning.

Well got home from work this evening and there on the front porch sat the shipment I had been waiting for all week.
My SCT from Fred at Evolution Performance had arrived.
To make a long story short this is the email I sent Fred today:
Hey Fred,
Got the SCT this evening.
Took the Predator out to the GT and reset it.
Plugged in the SCT, its actually pretty user friendly. Went to the Programming area and downloaded the 93 Extreme Tune.
Told the wife I had to run up to the gas station to fill up. Got out of my subdivision and onto the highway.
Punched it, the only thing that I can remember from that point on is, I remember saying to myself.........HOLY ****........WTF..........it was all I could do to keep the Pony from break'in the land speed record on a local highway. I was hold'in on to the steering wheel so tight my knuckles were white. I cannot believe how quick my GT is now, its pretty much like get shot out of the whole with a sling shot.
Now the Mustangs front-end comes way up in the air.........just like in the 60's. COOL!
Sure was fun.
Oh, by the way, I know you said you were going to give me (2) tunes, (1) was the 93 Extreme Tune, which is in the SCT and now in my car and the other tune was one I think you called the "Insane Tune" to only be used at the drag strip, which isn't in my SCT.
Well don't worry about not giving me the "Insane Tune" I don't want it. My heart can only take so much.
Thanks man.

Thats the end of the email to Fred.
Many thanks to everyone on this thread for their honest and open opinions regarding tuners and tunes.

I like your enthusiasm and I'm glad you're happy with your tune but there is no way no how your front end is coming off the ground a 1/16" with what you've got...lol

I didn't see anything about his wheels coming off the ground? Just front end coming up in the air.
Did I miss something? I think he is referring to weight transfer....

I thought about that before I posted but he specifically said..

Too say 'way up in the air' is definitely talking about a wheel stand in my book but if I took it wrong and he was talking about the SLIGHT hood lift and squat when he takes off, then I'm sorry I misinterrpreted but he also made a referrence to the 60's and in the old days, people used cinder blocks in the trunk to keep the car from going crazy and the weight transfer often caused stock cars to actually lift the wheels on take-off. I thought that is what he was referring too. Either way, I didn't mean for it to be debate and just was entertained by his enthusiasm from his tune and even said so...

Back in the 60's. 1966 to be exact, a friend of mine took me for a ride in his 66 Mustang 289 3-speed or 4 speed.........cant remember.
You guys may remember this.........at a stop, he would punch it, the back end would squat down and the front end would raise up into the air.........wheels NOT off the ground.........then it would take off like a bat otta hell. Those were the days.......way cool!
One thing I have learned during this thread.........is.........if you by a tune from someone.......make darn sure that the tune includes disabling or turning off the " Adaptive Learn" feature. If you dont after about 20 or 30 miles of driving the OBDll will have replaced your tune.
This is exactly where I screwed up when I purchased the Predator and being new to hot rodding again since the 60's.
When someone tells you that you need a custom tune......NOT A TUNE......but a custom tune this is one of the features that is disabled.
Its not so much the tuning device that is used to install the tune.....its the tuner and his knowledge of the cars computer, the car and different setups, the engine, the programming, his real life experience with his work and last but not least service after the sale (this is a big one with me).
I'm going to have my car dyno'd this weekend with the SCT 93 Extreme Tune from Fred. I have the Predator so I'm also going to purchase a custom tune from my CMR distributor and the put it back on the dyno at a later date. I've also decided to try out a tune from Brent, all of this just to see what happens, spend a little money and learn a little about tunes. It should be pretty educational.
I am interested in tuners that have a car like mine, with the same setup, and are running there own tunes. In my opinion this is the way to go. I've got a lot of catching up to do. I've been out of this hot rod stuff for 40 years.
