Question, does the 93 tune from Fred fade over time like the other tunes? If not that may be why I don't notice a difference when I re-tune. I have the JLT w/ 93 octane tune from Fred.

I'm not sure if the fade tunes or not... but just to be safe you can always retune it every few days, or every week... or every time you fill up. It really isn't that much of a hassle and doesn't take long at all. The guys are at the track and getting some video. Dkano is testing out Evolution & Brenspeed tunes. So far he's only run with Brenspeed's tune and he got a 13.2 with his new mods. (4.10 gears and UDPs.) His previous best was 13.3.

It's not the tune that fades. The computer adapts to your driving style. Your first 20 or so drives sets the computer. Just reflash your tune as others have suggested and the computer will reset itself.

GTJohn wrote that it's possible to turn the computers ability to adjust off. I guess that's a question for Fred or Brent.

We made the mistake of going straight to track lanes when we got to the track yesterday and made two run while our cars were still hot. I did match my previous best time on the second run, but the cars were still hot, so we wanted to let them cool off and "start over". I made two passes with the Brenspeed tune and got 13.2 secs at 104.6MPH and 104.99MPH. I let the car cool off and switched to the Evo tune and got a 13.45 at 103.84MPH. This was all with 4.10 gears and stock tires so my launches sucked. I can probably do a lot better with both tunes if I get drag radials, so we'll see. 60FT times were at 2.1 - 2.2 the whole night! One of my best times was against a BMW M3 that ran 13.4!

Way to go dkano, good times man. I hope using stock tires you stayed out of the water. How many pounds of air were you running in the rear tires? Do you have a stick or an automatic, if automatic what rpm did you launch at?

Fred at Evolution Performance told me that in the 93 Extreme Tune that the " Adaptive Learn" feature in the OBDll is turned off. This will prevent the tune from fading. Fred and I spent sometime discussing this matter prior to my purchasing the SCT and the custom tune.

Its refreshing to know that when I do go to the track I should run in the mid to lower 13's (n/a)

John, I have an automatic.
I did not want to rev the engine up before the launch to minimize how much the tires were going to spin. Just waited for the last amber light and pushed the gas, I couldn't just floor it from a stop 'cause I would have spun the tires for a second or two. If I had drag radials I would have probably I would have probably reved it up to between 1.5 and 2K RPMs. Tire pressure was at 20PSI in the rear, fronts stayed the same, didn't want to mess with them, had about 1/4 tank of gas or less.
My car did 13.3 with just the C&L intake and 93 tune from Brenspeed the first time I went to the track, that was with the stock gears too, and I didn't even change the rear tire pressure and had a 1/2 a tank of gas!

Oh, by the way, my number on the time slips is 9131.

So Evolution wins the dyno debate by 25 hp, but Brenspeed wins the 1/4 mile debate by 2-1/2 tenths? [sm=dontgetit.gif]

It's all about the driver/car condition during and after the race. I say, the best way to compare these two tunes is to have two identical cars with same identical HP, one with brenspeed, one with evo and let a pro drive it consistantly 3 runs each.. then you will see who's the clear winner.
