It looks as though you are correct sir. I knew I should have googled that first. Dammit, been so long since I have been around vortechs.

I'm going to call around and see how much it is to get it rebuilt. I'm really guessing it was an internal problem in the unit itself; It was getting oil, and everything was properly connected. I'm not sure what more it could be.

Well since the blower was on the car before you bought it, do you know how many miles the blower has on it? Also, you probably don't know of the conditions it has been through before you got it. Does it have shaft play or movement? I would guess that a bearing is out that allowed it to rub against the compressor cover. Would definetly see what vortech says about a rebuild cost before just dropping 1.5k on another headunit.

how were the oil lines configured when you baught the car? it's supposed to be at a certain angle or else it'll have trouble getting oil. I had an V3 which is internally lubed (the hell? lol) so I didn't have that problem. Looks like the fins rubbed a little, not sure if that's a big problem or not. As long as it spins freely now (while oil) I'd think it would be okay.

The fins were still rubbing for about 1/2 of each rotation. You can visually see that the bolt the fins are on was totally out of whack.
I dropped the $1500 for the new unit. From what I could find looking around online, a new impeller, having the whole unit refreshed, and fixing the casing from where the fins hit it would have cost me close to $1200. We originally had the price of the V1 down to $1300 with me exchanging my unit, but I changed my mind at the last moment and decided to keep my damaged V2 so the price went back up to $1500.
I'm going to give Vortech a call tomorrow and see what they'd charge to rebuild it.. maybe I can get it fixed and get some of my money back.
I got the V1 installed in a couple hours, and drove the car around real quick. Feels pretty much like it did before, but this V1 is a lot louder than my V2. But now I'm getting a P2196 and P2198 DTC, I cleared them and I'll see if they come back on my drive to work tomorrow. Hopefully it's nothing, or can be fixed by getting it dyno tuned once I get my tax refund.
