what you got to do is get a car that gets good mpg for everday and just have your ride to hot rod.

what the exhaust companies dont tell you is that your not going to gain all your power by just bolting up the exhaust. it does make the engine breather better but its not getting enough air to breath. to get the full power out of the exhaust is to get a cai tb and maf and visversa

I was just thinking the same thing. I have a couple of d/d's that I got REAL cheap(2 Hondas) for the gas milage. When I'm in the stang, mpg is the last thing on my mind!!!

You need to think for the future, and stop worring....For me, my last car I built with mostly top end in mind...I build the engine for pulling hard on the tope end, I lost alot of bottem end...I didnt worry about it cause gears will make up for the lost bottom end...Thats just why I thinlk gears whould be the first mod...It helps the car for future mods...I had a stock car I added the following...70mm tb, CAI, and put fulkl exhaust on it, dumps, and no cats....For that setup a 70mm was too big for a complete stocker..I lost torque and throttle response, it had a small bog....well then I added gear....Even better thorttle response, and no bog, and it pulled way harder.. It made up for the lost bottom end...SO wait till you get gears It is a world of difference for performance...And with 4.10's in 5speed, I got 15mpg for city...I dont drive on the highway that much so I cant say if I lost...but taching at 2800 2700ish at 70 isnt that bad...
