Default GT40P heads

Anyone have any feelings about these heads? I have a chance to get some cheap and I was wondering if anyone uses them and likes them. I'm not looking to see if they're the best, just good.

They are comparable to old gt-40 heads only bad part is you need different headers.

Here is some really good data on the P heads..http://www.jason.fletcher.net/tech/tech.htm (scan down to the GT40Ps's) and what they can do when worked over.

Yea, I'd head about the header problems. Thanks for the link, I think I'll hold off for now, don't really seem worth the trouble.

Whats the deal with the headers? I had gt-40s with frpp headers and switcked to bbk shorties and had no problems... I had a port job on em but that shouldn't matter

there is a difference between the Gt40p and the GT40 heads.
the difference is for the spark plugs. that is why with the GT40P heads they recomend the FRPP GT40p headers. so you have no clearence issues with the plugs

Yea, if I was going to get them I woudln't want to have to buy new headers, my car came with equal-length shorties and I'd rather not have to replace them if they're still working good. I just bought an x-pipe anyways and that should be on the way. Someone painted my shorties though and didn't do a good job so when I do the x-pipe I'm gonna strip those and get some header/high-temp paint and redo them. If I had more money I'd get them poweder coated.
