Tach needle stuck

Tach needle stuck
My 95 Cobra was in an accident last year (front end damage/bags blown), so over the winter I did considerable engine work (port/polish, 5-angle, replace valve train…).
Last night I fired up the car for the first time since doing the engine work and noticed my tach needle was on the wrong side of the rubber needle stop at zero RPM. When I start the car it rises from underneath the needle and acts like it’s trying to display RPMs but can’t make it past the rubber needle stop.
A couple of folks from other fourms said tearing out the entire cluster and moving manually was the only way to fix. Anyone seen this before, got any suggestions?
Thanks,
D

I think one of the members here said once that you hold the RPMs over 2500 for a little bit and it "resets". i may be wrong, so feel free to correct me

RE: Tach needle stuck
Thanks guys. Looks like I'll just take apart the gauge cluster and move it manually. But I still wonder how it got there in the first place?
I don't have any pics of the tach needle issue but here's the engine now that it's all back together, comments?
PICS!!
