Just got off the phone with AFR they stated that it shouldn't be a problem using the stock pistons but they recommend that I double check of course. Also told me that with the 351W if I decided to spray it or get a blower that the 185's would be the better head to go with. Interesting?????

We are talking stock 351 Windsor engine with the stock pistons right? I ask because I have several here and every 351 W I have pulled apart right from 1974 to 1984 have had a Large rectangular dish in the piston with no valve reliefs because of the depth of the dish in the piston. I point this out because given a .040 inch head gasket and a cam in the 230/240 advertised duration and .560 inch lift range will more than likely work with 2.02 valves. The dish in these pistons is quite deep. I just measured the dish at .125 thous. These are fairly deep and may only need a light massage on the piston to make the heads work if nothing at all.

Will the AFR 185cc heads allow for valve clearance with the 351W stock pistons?

Yeah a stock 351W. What cam would you use? Just getting as many opinions as possible and researching them all with the manufacturers.

call crane and comp and answer there 15 questions about your car and then they will outline a cam for your needs, just blindly guessing will not yield good results
