110 Octaine
Ok I want to find out if it is safe for my car to run pure 110 octaine gas, I am probally not going to do it but I am still curious. Some say you will burn up valves, but it is my understanding that the higher the octaine the lower the burning temp , it just burns faster. Second because 110 has lead in it it is supposed to mess with your cats but I dont have any. So, I don't see why I couldent use pure 110 but I wanted to make sure I wasent missing anything that could mess up my car.

RE: 110 Octaine
no cats or o2 sensors ?
won't hurt a thing, but you'll go slower if you don't bump your timing. w/ 110 ? probably run 16*-18* base
higher octane has a higher combustion level, thats why it resists detonation.

RE: 110 Octaine
leaded fuel will mess up your O2 sensors also.
dont use it, you can get unlead 100-110oct gas.
unless you are running a blower or nitrous 110oct gas is a waste.
Think of octane number as how stable the fuel is.
If you are running high compression or a lot of boost or nitrous
the gas can explode before you want it to (detonation) and thats
bad. A higher octane gas is more stable and less likely to do that.
If you are not doing one of those, higher octane gas is waste and doesnt
make any more power.

RE: 110 Octaine
Stock or little modded motors wouldn't use all the octane.....You get to a point where is is over kill. If you want to try it, go with the 104 or run 93 with a booster...110 is a bit much.

RE: 110 Octaine
Well I have no o2 sensors or cats, my car runs low 13's and I wasent going to fill it up all the way with 110 I was just going to add like 1-2 gallons for that sweet smell of race gas, and at a gas station by my house it is a little over $4 a gallon which I am mad about because it went up over a buck from last year. I was just wondering if it would hurt the motor if I filled it up, the question was just out of curiosity.

RE: 110 Octaine
Do not listen to some of these guys that say its ok to run. The higher the octane the slower the fuel burns. Your combustion would not be complete when the exhaust valve opened and you will burn the valve. Your car will run like pure crap with it in there anyway. Save your money.
