Default timing cover change???

ok here is the question. Im changing my timing cover and i got the pully off. now the large bolt in the middle of the dampner is making this difficult. everytime i try to torque it off, the dampner spins. Is there a way to stop it from spinning? And also does anyone have any tips on doing this job. Thanks.

put the car in gear so that way when u spin the bolt it will cause the hole drive train to move which will put more pressure on the bolt. that shood work

I'm just curious, but what's your need to change the cover?

i was changing the water pump and after i got it all together while driving the steel shaft at the end of the pump broke and the fan flew off stabbed my radiator and bounced back and hit the pump. Which in turn made the top of the cover snap in half. My luck. Thanks all i got it off finally.

Sounds almost like what happened to me a couple of years ago.My fan clutch went bad and while i was driving a motorcycle spoke kicked up under my car. When it did it got tangled in my fan and water pump and blew the front off the water pump taking out the radiator also. It's funny the things that can happen to us and our cars sometimes. The bad luck things!!!
