What the hell is doing that
ok, I have a thumping sound coming from what sounds like the bellhousing area, but I can only hear it while driving so that is a very general description, because it only does it while the tranny is under load. I notice it when I am low in the rpm range and climbing but not very fast, just normal. I drove it today after I replaced my motor mounts (this was a previous problem, that I was praying went away when I did so), and let the rpms get down to 1K in second and it would pop 2-3 times before getting to 2k rpm. If I shift at 2K (Like normal) when it gets back to around 1800 I hear the noise once. Any clue as to what is doing this???

do you have cats? because when i have a bad injector it would spray way to much fuel into the cylinder and go into the exhaust and when the fuel went into the catsit would built up and then when put under a load they would ignite..i think thats what it was doing.. but mine had the same popping noise under a load and it was a bad injector it wetn away after i put a new injector in it

I still have factory cats, and my clutch needs to be replaced in the following weeks. Didn't know if that might help in the diagnosis. also if anyone has a good way to help diagnos the problem without just throughin new parts at it that would be great as well.

Mine did the same thing when I had a pair of bad u-joints. Put the car in gear and the e-brake on, then try to move the driveshaft from side to side. If you can hear it clicking and there is a lot ofplay in your u-joints, replace them. Worse case scenario if you go spend $40 to replace em and it doesn't fix it...you got some new u-joints and will have to replace them much later.
