Default change thermostat or not?

I was drivin along on a hot *** day, and a hoseripped off my radiator<dont kno hoses name> but anyway.. my car wuz smokin, andantifreeze wuz everywere..
I was told thatI needed to change my thermostat causeI overheated??
is that tru?? butI really didnt overheat... my guages were high but not redline high.. It could just be that the hose wuz old and got too hot?? or should i just replace it anyway>?

if ur hose fell off or got cut i would just put a new hose on or just put ur hose back on. Thermostat isn't much money, so 2 be on the safe side Hell why not replace it.

The smoke you saw was prob. the coolent burning off the exhaust, as for the thermostat you don't need to replace it, and if you're low on money you can actully check to make sure it is working by taking it out and putting it in some very hot water (195 degrees F)

Go get a Stant 180 degree thermostat, 3 dollars from you local parts store. It'll keep your motor cooler than the stock one, give you some more gas mileage and a little more power.
