I had that happen when I revved it really high, called a ford tech, he said to rev it up to about 4500rpm and itll go back down, and lone behold it went back.

i just took the front dash out, took the center consol apart, and when the tach is moved past 6500 it falls to the ground, so i moved it back to 0 and put a little screw in at 6.5 so i cant go past it.

put it back in and it still doesnt work.
giggled the wires behind it and nothing, the wires by the dist cap, and nothing.

i looked at some wiring diagrams and followed some wires but i get nothing.
where else can i look??

theres no other nearby wires or selnoids or anything i can check?? what if i were to check the black and green wire coming out of the distributor cap, what kinda voltage should it have? (since that does goto the tach. right?)

im not, i was moving the tach with my finger and once i got to 6500 it flopped to the bottom... not sure if its sopposed to be like that.

but i just got back from driving it around and at certin WOT points the needle now goes backwards (from 0 down) and randomly when im in the middle of shifting it drops down also.

this is weird, but very annoying.
