the ticking is consistent and when i speed up so does the ticking, the car doesnt run differently either , i just got done painting my valve covers and put them back on and i didnt see any big gaps or distorted stuff so i put them back as well as the whole process of putting the uper intake back on, And for say it is a lifter or rod how hard is it to replace?

bad/leaking exhaust manifold gaskets can cause ticking.

considering what you just said i'd have to go with a leak as well, probably from your intake manifold... just eliminate all the possibilities of a leak before opening up the valve covers.

EDIT: beat me to it, donkey punched again.

My pony has done that since I rebuilt my motor. I just thought is was my motor knocking. Maybe I'll look in to that.

if its the header gaskets just remove the header and slide in another gasket and make sure it seals correctly

use copper gaskets if your replacing the header gaskets, they wont ever leak again.
