Go to the tech articles on this forum and, there is some good info on just getting started. Several low buck items there to start increasing the performance of your ride.

step 1
underdrive pulleys
cold air intake
headers
h or x pipe
catback exhaust
Gears make your car a whole lot faster, just not more power.

step 2
camshaft
intake manifold
cheap heads

step 3
aluminum heads
forced induction ect...

note that nitrous can fit into any of these
ps, i probably missed alot
