head casting #'s
where are the head casting numbers located? i was reading that in 86 they used the highswirl heads wich were restictive. the following year they where going to go back to the 85 cylender head but found they no longer had the castings for it, so they went to the E7TE heads wich where used on ford trucks. wich gave the 25hp gain. well anwyahz my ford econoline van is heading to the junk yard soon, and i want to find out if it has the E7TE heads on it. it would be an free 25 hp untill i can get the money for some AFR's

I don't know if thare is a easyer location but under the intake port in the front of the head . the head has to come off . them truck heads are a better peice of **** than what you have but not worth the cost of the gasket kit IMO

yea i will probably gasket match the ports on both the intake and the heads, then later eather get afr's or have the heads profesionaly ported and polished. assuming they are e7's. btw i will be going to an edelbrock rpm 4bbl intake manifold and an 4bbl carb becouse of the fact that my car is speed density. i may later convert back to efi with mass airflow, depending on the preformace of the 4bbl, the car wont be street drivin much
