Default converting a fuel system

heres the deal as some of you know do to a loss of oil pressure in my 87gt i had to pull my motor and being that it was speed dencity and i just plain dont like fuel injection im going with a carb setup now my question is when i remove the computor and engine harness how do i get the fuel pump to stay on when the motor is running? i would like to run a regular recirculating system with a regulator to get it down to about 6psi. i have never adapted a fuel injection fuel system to work with a carb any advice or diagrams or pics of your set up would be great thanks.

Default RE: converting a fuel system

I do!! only I didn't use a return style system like it had when it was cfi and I ran braided line from tank up to engine bay.. but irregardless if you decide to uses existing set up and drop pressure and loop the regulator excess to the return..you'll be fine ..just don't cheap out on a low quality regulator.......what you need to do is since as an efi system the ecm controls ground to efi relay/fuel pump relay via needing to see a PIP signal from the tfi generated by the stator...what you need to do is get a wiring diagram and the relay under the driver seat you cut the wire that the ecm controls the ground on the relay and permanantely ground that wire to the body of the car but you'll always have power on the relay once key is switched on so you won't be able to sit and leave accessories on or pump will run... now you could get technical and use a oil pressure saftey switch designed for such that is normally open but when car begins to crank and build oil pressure switch closes and bam!!! relay grounded and pump runs...I've yet to do such cause it's one more thing that can fail and leave car DOA......but either way cut the right wire and ground it
