the spout connector, you should set it a 10*, when set and the dizzy tight put the spout connector back in., the idle up and down and dying sounds like a vac leak to me

Might also want to try the MAP sensor. Mine went out and it would start, but wouldn't run for crap and only stayed running for a few seconds

I cleaned the plugs and now it will run longer. I think the bad gas fouled them out. I think hopefully all I have to do is try to reset the timing and check the vac lines. It kinda idles like I have a leak but I'm not sure. Whats a good way to check for leaks?

With the spout plug unplugged, set the timing to 10* BTDC at the flat part of the timing tab (right side). Then turn it off. Make sure the dizzy is tight, then restart it and make sure it is still at 10*. If so, turn it off and reinstall the spout plug. With the spout plug in, it will probably show the timing at almost 20* at an idle. This is normal.
It will not idle perfect until all of the old gas is gone. The old gas doesn't burn very easy and will cause idle issues and higher rpm misfires. Also double chack the firing order. The HO engines use the 351W firing order like mentioned above.
Aslo, for more power, once you get all of the old gas out, bump the timing from 10* to 13* if you run 91 octane and you will gain a few HP. Don't do it with 87 or 89 because it will probably ping (detonate) and damage the engine over time.

Thanks for the advice on the 91 octane, but i'm not really lookin to spend extra money on gas for just a little bit of power.

Either tomorrow or saturday I'll get the timing re set and see how it goes.

But any one have a suggestion to check vac hoses for leaks?

Check all of the ones coming off of the bottom of the upper intake. Could have one dry rotted.
