Cam Question

Doing anything without knowing your piston to valve clearence is scary. What these guys are saying is that the diameter of the valve in those heads, even the smaller 2.02 may/will contact the piston.By installing a larger cam the lift will be increased opening these valves even farther, creating worse piston contact( Any is going to f up your engine). As far as what it sounds like, anything that has to much of a lope will probably push you out of a usable rpm range with the rest of your car being stock. I would suggest one of the ford aftermarket cams if you want a little sound, with a nice exhaust. Save the other parts for a future 347 build. There are lots of shortblocks (DSS) that your heads and intake would work great on. I went to a smaller hyd cam this year, even though it dos'nt sound as nasty as my solid, its more friendly on the juice and will perform better. Mis matching parts is only a waste of money.Figure out what rpm range you want to make power and build from there. Solids are fine on the street,I just run the polylocks on the rocker arms and would adjust/check them on reg oil change maint schud

i love the sound of a pushrod motor camming. i want to make my 95 5.0 cam hard but still have good driveabilty? comp has a .613 lift cam but its a solid roller cam. what is the down side of using a solid roller cam on the street? what would you suggest for a good cam for what i want to do?
Imo the answer would be no cam. Stock 5.0s = stock cam, adding a large cam just for sound is not only a waste of money but it's ridiculous and is consider "ricerish" not to mention requires a fair amount of supporting mods. It's just not worth it, wait and do it right the first time.
