weird clutch install problem

I can see the dowel pins are through. How about those washers, are they big enough to go over the bolt shoulder?

Try to install the bolts without the pressure plate.

I'm going to bet this is the right answer. Pull off the pressure plate and disc, and then try to install the pressure plate without the disc. It's probably getting hung up on the dowel pins. They need to be a fairly tight, but sometimes they're too tight.

If you have a fine rat tail file, you can gently remove the paint/PC out of the hole and see if it fits better. If you don't have a rat tail file, put a strip if sand paper in a cotter pin, and chuck it into a drill motor. Be carefull not remove metal, only the paint/PC.

Check the bolt holes, too. Sometimes paint/PC gets in there, too, and you can't tighten the bolts all the way.

It's hard to install the disc backwards. It just won't lay flat on the flywheel if you do.
