i run 60 cold idle,40 to 45 warm idle and 52 at 55 mph and this is with a stock pump.

I run an average at 45-60 warm idle to cruise. I think I have hit up to 80 cold psi

When was the last time you changed the oil? Does the oil on the dipstick have a fuel smell? Contaminated oil breaks down quicker when hot. Do an oil/filter change and then check the gauge. 10 lbs per 1000 rpm is right on spec. with a stock pump.

Dude, stop running that engine! Try a o/f change if it smells fuel contaminated. Open the engine for a look see inside or it will open for you all by itself. May be cheap just bearings and pump, keep on and it will get expensive. Your wallet. Truth is hard to hear.

I am confused! Some say it is bad, others say it is ok? I am going to change the oil and filter this weekend. I will keep you guys posted on what it looks like after that. I guess I will just go from there.

Again, thanks for the help guys.

there is most likely a bearing issue if its at 7 psi at an idle.my old motor that would idle at 20 to 25 psi had pretty scarred up bearings.

I would change the oil and go from there bud. To me it sounds like you have major issues. I wouldnt doubt that you have hurt that motor. Let me ask you this though, are you just noticing the drop in pressure? What did the motor run at before, or havent you really payed attention until now? You have that kind of set up and that gauge should always have one eye on it everytime you hop in that thing. Just my opinion but your engine is hurt man, Change your oil and get back with us.
