Default Gt-40 Aluminum head update/ roller rockers

Hey guys so I just went threw pulling valve covers off and adjusted my roller rockers (scorpion 1.6) to almost perfection I believe, did the hole twist pushrod and roller lock just till slight tension on rod then if the half turn bout and then pollylock or whatever and went threw the steps intake first all the way up and so on. And I'm STILL hearing the faint ticking sound NOT KOCKING.. So either ALL my lifters are bad ? Or is that just the sound these older motors make ??? Ideas please anyone thanks guys !

Hello;

If your lifters are adjusted properly and nothing loosened up and there is no exhaust leak, then it is possibly a weak or poorly designed lifter even if they are new, especially if they are Comp Cams lifters. Some of them are notorious for ticking and imploding internally.

I am even a comp dealer and I quit using and selling their lifters but their cams are fine.

At least some roller rockers have a very faint ticking sound or sewing machine sound, but one or two should not stand out against the rest making it sound like just one or two lifters are ticking.

Also, if you want, you can take a video of the sound and load it on youtube then post the link for it here. We might be able to hear if it sounds abnormal or not.

Yea I felt around for headers and can't seem to find any loose air leaks as well.

Interesting ! Never new that.. I'm not sure what brand lifters are in here but I'm running a Lunati cam with 1.6 rollers.. Not sure what the pushrod length or brand is either.

you won't feel small leaks, you have to have a trained ear to know the difference, worked on a 68 bronco with a 5.0 swap the other day for a guy that couldn't get it to run right, in less than 1 hr I had it purring like a kitten.......and as soon as I had it that way he was like...what's that ticking......long story short, was a small exhaust leak at header flange........posting a video could better serve to identify such.
