Default couple of questions

Ihave a 1989 Gt and the fuel gauge only marks full and empty.I replaced the floater in the tank and it still does the same thing anyone know what else could be wrong?

Also are the 5.0 HO Cougars and T-Birds motors the same as the Mustangs?

Some newer model fords have a small module on the back of the gauge cluster that controls the fuel gauge. I am not sure if fox bodys have them, but it would be something to research about. If it were me, i would try switcing the gauge cluster.
