im pretty sure it was antisieze. same stuff u put on brake pads around the tabs lol

i didnt have any thread locker but it was better than nothing

antiseise will keep them from backing out. its thick enough that it makes stuff hard to back themselves out like lug nuts. when you put antiseise on them you cant really spin them off by hand to well

take a second wrench and link the box end to the open end to make it twice as long which will get you much more leverage

I tend to be like a neanderthal once I get a task in my head I need to accomplish. I always get the right tools to do the job once I hurt myself. It's a bad habit carried home from work. I work at a hydrocarbon producing facility 130 miles off the coast out in the Gulf of Mexico. Things happen really fast out here when things go bad and we tend to grab the closest tool we can to get the job done. While we make a febal attempt to repair/fix the problem at hand, we send the lesser operators after the correct tools. Federal government kind of looks down on us for overboard pollution. I always grab tools at home and look at it and think to myself, yeah it will get it done. Then I smash a finger or something and get another wrench like you mentioned and go at it with the two of them.
