I don't remember reading this or not but are you going by the stock tach or an aftermarket one?

1990lxhatch, c6's were never stock in foxes but the c4/c5 was which is why 83glx said something, It sounds almost right if it was an auto.

Yeah I know a c6 was never an option in a fox, my reply was a sarcastic response to another post. Plus, the OP is confident that we are talking about a Borg Warner 5 speed manual

Do this, next time you drive your car record what your speed and rpm are when you shift and let us know.

4.10's in a fox used for anything other than the track is a bit of a joke as far as I'm concerned. My buddy had them in his and used 5th in the city a fair bit and spun way to high for an oldschool V8 on the highway for my liking. Everyone and their dog has 3.73's in their 5.0 and they seem like a good compromise if the majority of your driving is in the city or below 80mph on the highway. 3.55's are the best choice in my opinion as they provide plenty of low end grunt and allow the car to cruise efforlessly at 80mph on the highway. I love my 3.55's and have always believed when it feels like you need more gear, what you really need is more motor. That's exactly where I'm at right now...

than your budy had way to small of a tire, cause I just installed a set of 4.10's with a set of 26 inch tires and cruises around 2600 @70mph all day long and I'm about to put a set of 4:10's in mine right now with 3.73's 2400 @65 ish all day long with 275/50 / 15 tires = 26 inch........= plenty of room for more gear

^I think he was running 245/50/16's on Welds. All I remember is when we took his car to go and watch the Friday night drags at Mission (1 hour + highway trip) I kept wanting to reach over from the passenger seat and relieve the stress on the motor by upshifting only to realize their were no gears left...

lol... yeah 245/50/16's are a tad shorter tire than what I'm running, although i do had 245/50/16's on my 92 with 3.73's and I think it could stand for more gear, but I rarely drive it anymore , 3 months since I last drove it

^ I'm glad I am gonna have my t5 in before I go driving across country to move home . That c4 would've be sucking at 70-80mph for 16 hours lol. Even with stock gears. After I get my 93 put back together I am getting a set of 3.55's put in most likely though.
