Default intake question

Adding more polish to the turd...

I'm trying to pick out an intake plenum for my 91 5.0. I've been told these big ones from BBK are SUPPOSED to be good for a couple HP and easy to install.

http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku

However... I see they do not use the factory fuel rail.... interesting.

Second on the list is this one from trick flow:

Now - I know the BBK unit is twice the price, however, I've been told its a better value. The reason I ask is, Im not sure if the trick flow offering will be enough with the new motor next year (I PRAY)

Any suggestions, others to consider?

Thanks.

also - is it worth buying as a kit with both aftermarket fuel rails and throttle body?

its the bottom of the barrel for intakes. it doesnt perform well for what it cost. hardly flow any better than the stock one. my typhoon would outflow that thing like it wasnt even funny. look at BBK bench testing for the intake. they are terrible.

The reason one is half price is it's the upper portion of the intake only. There are better choices than the BBK although it's not as bad as it's portrayed to be. BBK took that design right of the Ford 3.8V6 playbook. If you are going to buy the TrickFlow buy the entire intake or you wont be able to use it. Most aftermarket 5.0 EFI intakes are within 100 dollars of each other.

I ended up ordering the track heat upper and lower, Im just concerned now that my NOS fogger plate isnt going to fit... ops... I appears that T/F sells their own plate kit, Im hopping its because they want to, not because the intake is different and wont fit. Yikes.

Time will tell.
