Default Convertible trunk question

Has anyone removed the black trim, I guess you would call it, from the trunk? I am looking for a cleaner look but wonder what is underneath. I'm hoping for just a few holes but thought I would ask.

Is the black trim your refering to luggage rack or is it where your convertible top meets the body? The Luggage rack I believe is riveted, the other is extremely difficult to remove unless you top is completly off.

Great, thanks. I did mean the luggage rack on the trunk. I have a good body man and looking to remove those pieces from the trunk. Thanks for the help.

youll probably pay less to just buy a new trunklid when you repaint than to fill and smooth and prime the luggage rack holes out jmho...

i removed mine and added a saleen spoiler...

you have to smooth the outside and the inside to do it right....

I put a new deck lid on my wife's car before sending to paint.
I made a template to drill the new holes in the lid for the vert hinges. Turned out great

yeah like said, easier to get the decklid off of a notch and just drill the holes for the hinges

Very nice stang rmodel and pro50. That does sound easier, I will have to see if I can find a cheap decklid then. If not, I will ask my buddy who paints for me what kind of work would be involved but I really like the look.
