For SKipShift locking you out of 2nd &3rd gear, it fortunately never has done so; only made it harder for me to put it into 2nd or 3rd. But now, when it pops up, SkipShift no longer gives me that resistance anymore. If it is turely a mechanism in the shifter that Ford put in that makes it harder to shift to 2mrd or 3rd under skipshift, I think I overrode it by my driving style and the ECU has learned and adapted to not activate it.

I personally do not know if this mechanism is for real or if it is just rumors. I would not even know how such a mechanism would work.

However, I DO get a resistance every now and then when shifting into 2md and also 3rd, but those are never during SkipShift conditions. Those I attribute to the clunkiness of the Chinese MT82 tranny that Ford it its infinite wisdom decided to drop in instead of the tried and true Tremecs. As a matter of fact, I will not be surprised if my tranny gave me shifting resistance even in SkipShift conditions and that has foolde me to thinking that there might be a "mechanism" that makes it hard to shift into 2nd or 3rd when the message board lights up.
