Yeah that sounds like it the t56.

Probably just stick with the t5 as they are hard enough to find

For those of you who have swapped out the c4 for a t5!

What did it cost you?

Was it worth it?

Any trouble with the T5 after the install?

This swap will be for a 66 with c4 any extra trouble being a 66?

Thanks

Gun
My son and I put in a Tremec TKO 600 into his 66, We have not gotten the car off the stands yet, but it was an easy install, stricly a bolt in deal with the shifterhole being slightly enlarged toward the passenger side being the only modification of the car needed. (about 1").

We did this with a new trany, new rear x-member, and a lakewood scattershield that was specifly designed for this swap.

We are also using the above mentioned Mustang Steve cable setup.

About $1,900 for the trany
$350 for scattershield, (alum bell housing is available from mustangs unlimited for about 1/2 cost)
$350 for clutch assy. + $20.00 for fork, +$15 for "ball stud"
$200 Clutch cable setup.

I ordered the TKO with a standard 10 Spline input shaft so that I would have more "standard" clutches available = cheaper clutch parts.

If you decide to go the "new" route, I highly recomend the TKO 600, as it has a 600lb torque rating, unless you are building a real hoss, it will work without modification or upgrade. Just choose your parts carefully, there are lots of variables.

I know there are several folks on here who have done the T56 swap, I am sure that you will get plenty of help if this is the route you choose.

Hey man I just did this on my Fastback, you want to get you a rebuilt T-5 or new don't wasn't your time if it isn't. Then you need a T-5 cable clutch linkage conversion. Make sure you get one that is in conjunction with a late model (1980-1993) T5 type bell housing and throw out arm. Also make sure you get the right year they are different from 65-66 and 57-68. You will also need a T5 transmission crossmember w/ the parking brake bracket. Don't forget the fulcrum & spacer block kit. It sounds like alot of work but it really isn't that bad. Those parts a just mentioned to you are only about $400 all together. Check out this place called California Pony Cars the number is 1-888-225-7669 give them a call they will send you out a catalog.

i Did my swap for about 450$ total, with home fabrication, a T5 from a buddys garage for 125$ with 60k miles, junkyard 2000+ clutch pedal/brake pedal, all my own fabrication of supports for that and the transupport, and a new king cobra clutch and plate. I love it! With my 4.11's it was to much for highways, so i went to my 3.73's and i love it! Cruises highway good. Also, Ive driven it REALLY hard and it has yet to break**knock on wood**-Jon
