Im looking for a rust bucket and still the cheapest i can find is $3,500 should i fork over the extra cash, or keep looking?
Does anybody here frequent junkyards in search ofdiamonds in the ruff?
Public Junkyards have all been prety much picked over after 40 years. Occasionally you'll find someone who'd been privately hoarding wrecks and they will pass away and their heirs will sell off the stuff.

It's a needle in a haystack... keep looking!

$2K will be hard to get anything with a horse emblem on it...unless it's a coupe with a lot of work needed. I would want to pay $5-7K for a fastback with a good starting point. There are people that sell them in that range and don't know what they have. You may get lucky. I found my 67FB only needing driver side floor pan and a fresh coat of paint for 6500. It can be done..good luck.

i got my 68' coupe for $2125 and all i had to do is put a battery in it and it ran fine.

no rust on the body or frame, a little bit in the passenger floor pan, nothing major tho. i got a really good deal, i got mine from an impound auction. just gotta keep your eyes peeled.

You should come down south, here in LA I saw a fair amount for a price range of 3-5k when I was helping my younger cousin look for a project, not too too much to save up.

I'm trying to do the same with a 69 coupe into a fastback. I'm in the process of buying a rust bucket 69 fastback, I think the only thing good on the car is the roof and the tail section. I'm getting the doors complete also because I heard the glass is different. I think I can get it for under $1000. I take it from all your posts that I would be getting a good deal. Or are the 69s less in demand?

Default 69 Coupe convert to fastback

Does anyone know what I have to do to convert a 69 coupe into a fastback? Can I cut the roof just behind the windshield or do I have to use the windshield posts too?Do I need to change out the whole back end or can or can I just cut it off half way down the quarter panel?I'm clueless when it comes to the back section, do i need to change it out all the way to the trunk floor?

Thanks,
Clueless newbie
