Default Kickdown

the kickdown cable i.e.

that, is what controls the secondaries or what? - anyway if that was a dumb question.. here's another

i know the end with the 2 eyelets on it connect to the portion on the transmission and the other end connects to the throttle portion.

what holds the other part on (the one with the threaded end) - on the linkage theres just a hole - and on that part theres no hole for a carter pin or a nut. so how does it even stay on? also.. is it supposed to have slack or no?

the kickdown cable controls your passing gear in the transmission, when your driving along and you step on it your trans should drop down a gear to aid in passing, pulling hills etc. from the looks of that cable you might need another bracket or additional linkage to use it. i do know if you dont have the passing gear hooked up it can do damage to your trans, something about it controlling pressure inside the trans, at least thats what the trans shop told me when i got my c6 redone, had to get a lokar kit because nobody had the setup i needed for my71.

i have it off right now because we had the transmission redone with new bands, an art carr valve body etc. torque converter and we had left it off so you justh ave to manually shift it down a gear when passing but like i said.. i have no idea how that other side connects. :|
